Beth Israel Medical Center is an acute care hospital which is one of the few institutions in the country that offers intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). This procedure delivers a single high dose of radiation during surgery to an area from which a tumor has just been removed. Patients may be recommended to have surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center if IORT is an option for them. In addition to IORT, Beth Israel Medical Center has on staff some of the top surgical oncologists in the area, so that multidisciplinary surgical care can be carried out to the highest of quality standards.
